The second morning in Antarctica we woke up in Gerlache strait.
Swimming Gentoo penguins around the ship.
After the cold weather the days before, now we could be out in the sunshine without jackets. (Photo cred: Felipe Arruda)
We finally landed at the continent in Orne harbour. (Photo cred: Riley Wyna)
A chinstrap penguin looking out over Orne harbour.
Someone spotted humpback whales and orcas in the distance. We got in the zodiacs to get closer.
We got this close.
Orcas hunting a weddell seal.
A diving humpback whale.
In the afternoon we landed in Port Lockroy to send postcards from Antarctica and to check out the British museum station.
There are three people living in Port Lockroy during the Antarctic summer. And thousands of penguins.
The last stop was a walk on the sea ice.
Then we headed back to the ship to go to Lemaire channel for the sunset…
